Animal Shelter in Chesapeake, Virginia

Jan Dryer, with a $ 5000 donation check from Kroger Market Place and Pedigreee to the Animal Assistance League

During this economic downturn, the Shelters nationwide are feeling the 'pinch'. Lack of donations and grants leave us very short of funds. The Animal Assistance League would like to thank Kroger Marketplace at 3901 Holland Road in Virginia Beach, their manager, Ricky Green, and Pedigree for this generous gift of $ 5,000. This will purchase much needed vaccines, help with the spay/neuter of the animals here at the shelter, and make it possible for us to continue to help the many animals in need of a safe place until they find their permanent home.

Cat Adoption Policies

Your next family pet is waiting for you at Animal Assistance League. We specialize in cat adoptions. We're only looking for people who are serious about adoptions, so consider all factors before you make a request.

Adoptions & Donations

Our agency is nonprofit, so we're always looking for financial assistance to stay afloat. For more information about adoptions, donations, and memberships call us at (757) 548-0045.

 Our President
We think that our agency has been a success because of the passion of our president. She is a strong advocate for animals and she works hard to ensure they are placed in loving homes.

Las Gaviotas Pet Hotel is a partner to, and shares the building with The Animal Assistance League. If you are interested in adopting a cat, or making a donation to the Animal Assistance League, please go to, or call (757) 548-0045 for information.

About Us

Improve your life and that of a cat, too, with adoptions from our animal shelter in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Animal Assistance League (AAL) was formed in response to the vast number of animals put to death each year by local shelters. We adhere to the philosophy that no adoptable animal should be euthanized. We are caring and compassionate and show deep concern for animals.

We Depend on You

Our animal shelter is a privately funded, nonprofit organization that receives no taxpayer money. This is why we depend on members and donors to help us fund our services.
